| Description |
English: "Richardson Candle" streetlight (1) These 1957 fluorescent lights were intended to illuminate the buildings as well as the pavements in the historic centre of Cambridge. As can be seen here, at the corner of Trinity Street and Senate House Passage, there are wall-mounted and free-standing variants. The latter are now scarce as the custom-made fluted columns are impossible to replace after motor vehicle impacts. This one looks decidedly the worse for wear. |
