Summary
[edit]Description"Reinstated Carpet" - a finely sculptured lawn - geograph.org.uk - 1458731.jpg |
English: "Reinstated Carpet" - a finely sculptured lawn Part of "The House of Bling" exhibition of contemporary art installations at Tattershall Castle, this intricate pattern was devised by Linda Florence, a print and textile designer turned interactive artist. She specialises in creating elaborate floor surfaces from diverse materials which are disturbed and disappear over time. This example was "painted" with builders' marker aerosols on the circular lawn in front of the castle tower and a band of local volunteers were directed by the artist to meticulously cut and close trim the pattern into the grass. Over the two weeks of the exhibition these participants have maintained the pattern. Now the exhibition has come to an end one has to ask, will these local people keep the artwork alive by continuing to maintain it or will it, as the artist intended, slowly grow out?
See Mick Lobb's 1457557 showing clipping in progress half way through the exhibition. |
