Summary

[edit]
Description

Row of seven dilapidated frame houses on the corner of First Street and Constitution Avenue, NW known as "Little Italy" or "Millionaire's Row", as shown in the 9/23/06 "Washington Times".

Built ca. 1856 by John Purdy, the row apparently occupied the NE corner of the intersection and was scheduled to be razed shortly to make way for the Ventosa apartments, which were themselves demolished in 1933 during an expansion of the Capitol grounds.
