Summary
[edit]Description"Giving Horses" by Li Qun 1948.jpg |
English: The woodcut “Giving Horses,” created in 1948, responded to Commander He Long’s call to donate surplus horses to aid impoverished military martyrs. Initially criticised for its portrayal of an elderly individual, Li Qun re-engraved the piece to emphasise the strength of the martyrs, earning widespread praise. It was exhibited at the inaugural National Literary Congress in 1949 and later included in the “New China Print Collection” by Shanghai Chenguang Publishing Company. |
