Since 1869 as an official post photographer with the Engineer Corps in Fort Sill. Later he obtained a concession and operated a studio in Fort Sill for six years. 1875 he moved to Philadelphia where he had found an employment, later he moved to Vermont. 1882 he moved to Boston and went into business, The Soule Art Company, with his brother. In 1900 he retired.
