  • This VISC was submitted 10 days ago with a change of scope today as I wasn't sure if it was the scope that needed changing. I will change both scopes to make them more appropriate and descriptive of the subject(s).--Godot13 (talk) 18:16, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Scope changed from School children of South Africa to Lukhanyo Primary School, Male student (Zwelihle Township) {{{3}}}

  • Please notify previous voters of this change. Remember: "A support vote that was made before a change of scope is not counted unless it is reconfirmed afterwards; an oppose vote is counted unless it is changed or withdrawn".

  • Of course. This image is a solo portrait of one boy at the school (with two other intentionally out-of-focus children in the background) in their yard. The scope of this nomination is the most valuable image of a male student (this infers solo portrait) and is linked to the Lukhanyo Primary School category. Of the 22 images in the category, four focus primarily on a single student and two of these are boys. So as I understand from the scope, there are two choices. This is also one of the reasons I also nominated a set of images as well (with both single and multi-subject images), to capture the students together and interacting. Does this help clarify my nomination, or would you like to know my reasoning for choosing this particular image over the only other in this scope? Thanks--Godot13 (talk) 20:31, 3 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment A difficult scope indeed. I assume you intention is to describe how a typical school children of Lukhanyo looks. I would like to support this scope, and may pass unless somebody oppose. But I don't think this picture has the good qualities of a portrait. I can accept you intention to prefer this environmental portrait (with other school children behind) than other single portraits; but the artificial pose and controlled smile ruined the composition. I prefer File:School children (Lukhanyo Primary School, Zwelihle Township (Hermanus, South Africa) 03.jpg among the currently available pictures in the category. I know how difficult to capture a human with his/her original expression compared to animals or still life. JKadavoor Jee 17:30, 7 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
