  •  Comment - Useful, but cropped in the lower right corner. Is it impossible to get a full, uncropped photo of this subject? -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 07:27, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Info @Ikan Kekek: Due to the depth of the well in which the pumps were situated, I had to make all sorts of compromises. I pushed my lens to its minimum focal length (23 mm). I was faced with a choice - do I get all three pumps into the image, or do I get the railings (at eye level) around the pit (thereby giving a horizontal line which viewers can use as a point of reference) into the image? I chose to sacrifice the third pump rather than scarifice the horizontal line. I have however amended the image description to draw to attention that there is a third pump. --Martinvl (talk) 12:53, 27 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Question - Did you have the opportunity to take both photos? It would be good to see the other one. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:04, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Comment I think it should be possible to make a panorama to show all --Llez (talk) 12:37, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Info@Ikan Kekek and Llez: No, I did not take any pictures from any other angle. I took two or three near-identical picture and chose the best one. Also, I am not sure that a vertical panorama is very effective, especially as our eyes are in the horizontal plane rather than the vertical plane. --Martinvl (talk) 19:23, 28 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I found this image of a vertical panorama on the internet (taken from the opposite end of the room to where I took my photo). In order to get a badly distorted view of part of the third pump, the photographer sacrificed the view of the staircase. I don't think that he did a good job. -- Martinvl (talk) 16:18, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, but I think it's a more useful image. And you probably could have done better than he did. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 16:25, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ikan Kekek: But the current situation is that this is probably the best image of the pump house on Commons, interior or exterior and I have no plans to visit Belfst again in the foreseeable future (500 km away). Also the criteria for a VI is that as of now this must be is the best image in Commons under that scope. If somebody takes a better shot under this scope, the VI will be passed on to their image -- Martinvl (talk) 18:04, 30 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
" Must illustrate its subject well" is also a criterion. I'm not sure this cut-off image passes that test. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 06:12, 31 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
