Scope | Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope: Oeneis nevadensis (Great Arctic) |
Used in | Global usage |
Reason | This image, used by three projects, depicts the light-grey leading edge of the hind wing underside with a dark-grey triangle on the post-median line, scalloped-appearing hind wing margin, and absence of a post-median line on the forward wing. These features distinguish this species from others. This species rests with its wings closed; it is difficult to observe, or photograph, the upper surface of the wings of living individuals. -- Walter Siegmund (talk) |
