Scope | Nominated as the most valued image on Commons within the scope: Nikon the Fisherman, funerary stele |
Used in | Erétrie |
Reason | "Nikon", taken by a "Sony"... Funny, isn't it ? The name of the fisherman "Nikon" can be read on the stele (Νεικων). It is a well known ancient greek funerary stele, we have now two pictures of it, the first, formerly in use, is just a scan of a BW old book, the candidate is obviously better. In use of course, and geocoded in the institution template (the archaeological museum of Eretria, which is worth a visit, by the way.) -- Jebulon (talk) |
