Oppose: The scope for this nomination is far too narrow. If we include every memorial to those lost at sea, then we must include every memorial to those who died fighting for their country or those who were victims of genocide. The UK alone has over 66000 war memorials! We clearly need to be more selective about memorials that qualify as VIs in their own right. The other alternative is that this memorial is a seminal work by a sculptor (artist) who has an article in Wikipedia. Charlie Easterfield does not fall into this category, though I did find one other reference to a work of his in Commons. Martinvl (talk) 17:37, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Info, @Martinvl: please see the scope definition - this was nominated as an image of a specific sculpture and not as an image of a memorial. DeFacto (talk) 17:56, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Info: @DeFacto: : I am fully aware of that and as explained above that scope was, in my view, far too narrow. Martinvl (talk) 19:01, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Question, @Martinvl: I'd be interested to know what scope you think would be appropriate for this image then. All sculptures by this lady? All sculptures in Kirkcudbright? All wooden sculptures? Please be more constructive. DeFacto (talk) 19:13, 1 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Info: I suggest the scope "Memorials in Scotland to those lost at sea". You might notice that I have added a new category to the image. Martinvl (talk) 03:31, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
