[edit]Info created by Joaquim Alves Gaspar - uploaded and nominated by Alvesgaspar. I nominate this picture for its simple and strong composition, which emphasizes its symbolic meaning: the extreme dryness that occurred in my country during the year of 2005.

Support I like the composition --Jacopo86 08:50, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Oppose I don't like the composition. Apart from the fact, that it's cropped at the top, i would like to see more from the landscape on the right to see, that there is no water, where it should be. Furthermore the object on the right is distracting and the clouds are overexposed. norro 15:41, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Info The picture is not cropped at all, it is exactely as it was when taken from the camera. The little object on the right (although maybe redundant) is part of picture - it is another metric scale. To the right, there is only concrete (it can be checked with Google Earth and the coordinates given in the picture file). The idea of lackness of water is given by the dry first plan and long metric scale. I don't agree the clouds are overexposed; but even if they are, that is better than having the foreground underexposed. Yes, I agree the picture is not "nice", with that big and dull somber mass in the first plan. But that is, of course, on purpose. -- Alvesgaspar 16:22, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
- Not the picture is cropped at the top, but the object. norro 22:58, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Support It's not a pretty picture but it certainly illustrates its subject well. Cary "Bastiq▼e" Bass demandez 16:48, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Oppose subject cut, clouds overexposed (good candidate for HDR). -- Lycaon 20:55, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

- HDR means high dynamic range [1]. norro 22:28, 12 October 2006 (UTC)

Oppose The clouds look rainy, so for me the "Drought-Feeling" is missing Simonizer 06:36, 13 October 2006 (UTC)
Oppose both. Clouds are far too overexposed. howcheng {chat} 00:03, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Oppose exposure. Otherwise illustrative, composition OK. --Ikiwaner 17:46, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Support I edited the original a bit. But I'm not sure the new version is better: the clouds seem to announce rain... -- Alvesgaspar 22:53, 12 October 2006 (UTC)
Oppose You're right the second picture is worse than the first because the clouds are even blown out more. Once exposure is bad there is no way gettin it right afterwards. --Ikiwaner 17:46, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Support better than original, clouds seem more "menacing" --Jollyroger 10:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
