[edit]- Info A female hoverfly - Eristalinus taeniops - detail of the head and thorax. I yelled at the critter to stay still right on the middle of the flower while I was focusing but probably she wasn't listening. This is of course just an exercise of aesthetics with little encyclopaedic relevance. Created and nominated by Alvesgaspar 23:38, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

- Neutral Amazing, but the crop seems a little off. Shouldn't be hard to fix, you've got plenty of pixels to work with. Calibas 00:02, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Support Amazing detail, DOF, sharpness, background, composition and exposure ;) --Richard Bartz 01:36, 3 November 2007 (UTC)just joking :) --Richard Bartz 09:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)- Comment - That was an ugly thing to do, much uglier than the ugliest of your flies. But don't worry, I'll abstain from reviewing your pictures from now on :(( - Alvesgaspar 17:39, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- A vote with a aberrant course of business, which would be readen by 10 peoples ? It's not the end of the world i assume :-) If you try to explain this to a person who is not familar with Wikipedia, i'am shure he thinks there must be deranged people here, discussing or being busy with ugly flies. Ohmygod! ;) Should be understood as a discernment, for my part :-))--Richard Bartz 14:42, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

- Neutral Solely for the shot of the three eyes at the top (whatever they're scientifically called). Dori - Talk 01:57, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Going with crop below instead. Dori - Talk 15:42, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose I do not find this more aestetic than current featured insect images. /Ö 14:09, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose for the following reasons:
- 1. Tilt of the fly, breaks the symetry.
- 2. The head ends up dead center, with too much flower out of focus behind.
- 3. The dark areas on top of the flower are distracting. If the color was meant to be used as an element, that creates a distraction.
- 4. The bottom of the torso, there is a curve that was cropped, it should have been included, it looks... cropped.
- 5. Not enough DOF.

[edit]- Info A alternative with a different crop and a slight rotation to show the beautiful and unusal eyes of Eristalinus taeniops. --Richard Bartz 15:12, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Support This edit is better. Dori - Talk 15:42, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Question Is that an antennae and is it missing the other one of whatever that is? -- carol 18:22, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Oppose I don't think this crop is much better, it doesn't do much for the composition IMO. It's not as encyclopedic now in any case. -- RedCoat 16:51, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- Support I think the detail is amazing and am a bit surprised by the lack of interest on this picture ! Benh 22:22, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose For the following reasons:
- Crop - the curve in the body is cut out at the bottom of the fly.
- DOF - insufficient

- Oppose Unanswered questions and I don't even think that this image is worthy of being QI. -- carol 18:34, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
