Support- Very good portrait. It's a pity a bit of his hair is cropped out, but I support, anyway. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 10:00, 27 January 2017 (UTC)- Support A striking and interesting portrait. The slight cropped hair is totally in line with common practice for editorial photos and doesn't bother me at all. --cart-Talk 11:53, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Comment - I didn't know that. People seem to always object to any crops in a person's head on FPC and QIC. It'll be interesting if no-one votes against featuring this photo for want of a few hairs. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 12:56, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Do a google search for say "politician" and you either find photos with either the whole head or with the unruly top hairs cut off. This brings the eyes up and makes you concentrate on the face instead of the "bad hair day", making the person look more serious and closer to you. --cart-Talk 13:36, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
- Yes; we see more tighter crops in professional portrait photography. Jee 03:36, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks, cart and Jee. I'll keep this in mind. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 09:18, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

- Neutral Very expressive portrait, and the shallow DOF gives focus to the eyes and good bokeh. I tend to think though that the DOF is a bit too shallow as his nose and lower mouth section is very much OOF. -- Slaunger (talk) 21:42, 27 January 2017 (UTC)

- Support Striking. -- Johann Jaritz (talk) 05:41, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose I am not sure about DoF. Too shallow; nose, mouth probably are out of even from hyperfocal distance. Would be good to see EXIF. --Mile (talk) 10:41, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose focus and cropping issues. Charles (talk) 12:03, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose While I do like a good shallow-DoF portrait, and the eyes are sharp, the fact that the mouth is so out of focus is bothersome -- it's the next place one looks after the eyes. So here, I think the DoF (or the angle of his head) is not optimal. -- Colin (talk) 13:56, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose I'm sorry. I could excuse the upper crop if the rest of the image were cropped with equal severity—but it's not (Frankly, I wonder if the expression on his face means he's about to hit the photographer for doing that ). And once you take Colin's comment to mind and look at his mouth, you can't unsee that no matter how thumby you make the picture. Daniel Case (talk) 18:44, 28 January 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose a very nice portrait, but the DoF problem isn't ok for me. Focus point must be to the eyes too. --Alchemist-hp (talk) 01:04, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
- I'm changing my vote to Oppose, because the critics' arguments are very persuasive. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 08:54, 29 January 2017 (UTC)
