Info Smoke from the Pika Fire rises from the left and goes above North Dome and Basket Dome, then obscures the sky above Tenaya Canyon and Half Dome on July 15th, 2023. The Pika Fire is a wildfire near North Dome in Yosemite National Park, California. Ignited by lightning on June 28, 2023. The fire filled the valley with smoke. This picture was taken from Glacier Point.

Comment - Looks pretty good. There is at least one dust spot, however. I've annotated it here. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 16:12, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
- I have removed that dust spot and one other one I found. Thanks for pointing it out. Lorax (talk) 01:00, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Oppose A valuable documentary image, but not outstanding for FP. Could be a VI in some scope. --Tagooty (talk) 15:56, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
Oppose per Tagooty. VI. --Milseburg (talk) 18:34, 21 August 2023 (UTC)
Neutral I am sorry to say so, but the detail level is quite low and the trees look a bit mushy – not what I would expect from a Z 9 photo taken at ISO 80. Maybe the lens was not up to the resolution of the Z 9? Or something went wrong during post-processing – did you apply any noise-reduction (should not be necessary here)? Sorry again, --Aristeas (talk) 08:56, 22 August 2023 (UTC)
- I think the smoke from the fire is what causes the lack of detail in the trees on the other side of the canyon, the air was hazy due to it. I didn't apply noise-reduction and the lens is the "24-120/4 S" so I don't think either of those things are the issue. Sorry it doesn't meet your expectations. Lorax (talk) 02:13, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you, that may explain it. (And sorry if my comment seemed a bit harsh. My expectations come from the statements of many proud Nikon users which claim that the Z 9 is the best camera of the world and takes always perfect photos, while cameras and lenses by other manufacturers are just crap. Therefore I was a bit surprised to see a low level of details in a Z 9 photo …) --Aristeas (talk) 10:14, 23 August 2023 (UTC)

Oppose Most of the content is in the shadow and hard to distinguish. Also the sky / smoke is unappealing in my view -- Basile Morin (talk) 01:42, 24 August 2023 (UTC)
