- InfoTraditionally Eastern Slavic cookies zhavoronki (translated as larks) or soroki (translated as magpies). This cookies baked on the day of the march equinox, which in pagan times was celebrated as the beginning of spring. Bread birds given to children who run in the field to call the returning birds. In the Orthodox Christian tradition, the ceremony has been associated with the celebration of Holy Forty Day, and eastern slavic sorok (translated as forty) has been associated with soroka (translated as magpie}, which is not a migratory bird. The photo was taken in the ecovillage of Korenskie Rodniki, Shebekinsky District. This info dedicated to Tomascastelazo :) Ю. Данилевский (talk) 13:38, 21 October 2012 (UTC)

- Comment I see you've uploaded several images, including of ones that are roosting in the trees. Are trees normal habitat for them or does one tend to find them only on the ground in the field? You see, I think I prefer File:Lob_Жаворонки_74.JPG. Could you indicate if this is the male or female of the species. Thanks :-)

- No, I just nominated image. I am also surprised that the lark found on a tree branch. This is probably a magpie, but my grandmother would bake only larks :) Ю. Данилевский (talk) 04:50, 22 October 2012 (UTC)
