Gian Lorenzo Bernini, self-portrait, circa 1623
  •  Comment -- Bernini is frequently credited with inventing Baroque art. He was a badass architect, sculptor, painter, and playwright. Wikipedia says "he effectively became the successor of Michelangelo, far outshining other sculptors of his generation". This digital copy of his self-portrait is reproduced in amazing detail, and lets his talent speak for itself.
