- Info Visually, fish crows are practically indistinguishable from the much more common American crow. They're identified mainly by their call, a cute little nasal caw. I typically just hear them as they fly overhead, often with American crows, and this was the first time I was able to get close enough for a decent shot. I took a few, and debated which to nominate (see also 1 2 3), but figure this one while vocalizing was best. all by — Rhododendrites talk | 17:07, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

- Comment The bird is beautiful, but why did you blur the thing (top of a fence?) it's standing on so much? That's distracting to me. -- Ikan Kekek (talk) 18:28, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- The blurring is just from the 300mm (600mm full frame equivalent) at f/6.3, which makes for a pretty narrow depth of field. I could've boosted the ISO for a smaller aperture but I'd be worried about noise on such a dark subject. — Rhododendrites talk | 18:52, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

- Oppose I don't like the man-made perch and background. 22:00, 4 March 2021 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Charlesjsharp (talk • contribs)
- Support I think the urban background is a fitting setting for a crow. —Percival Kestreltail (talk) 23:54, 4 March 2021 (UTC)

- Support with the apparent blur on the head explained. It might be a little better with a tighter crop, but I will defer to the photographer on that.
I also always do a slight double take at "Red Hook" ... I know here it's the Brooklyn neighborhood, but for me, in my region of the state, it's the town at the northwestern corner of Dutchess County, where I was just yesterday visiting my son. So I briefly caught myself wondering when you'd found time to come up this way . Daniel Case (talk) 02:14, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
- Not recently, but I've spent a decent amount of time in both Red Hooks. If the restaurant Murray's still exists in Tivoli, I'd recommend it. :) — Rhododendrites talk | 02:41, 8 March 2021 (UTC)
