Overview

As part of the Wikimedia Foundation's Annual Plan for 2023-2024, one of our key objectives is to improve moderation workflow. To achieve this, we would like to gather insights and opinions from commons moderators regarding the challenges they face, as well as potential improvements and strategies for managing new uploads and deletion requests.

Objectives

The call is intended to provide more clarity for the product and technology departments, ensuring we hear directly from moderators about what they think needs to be done to improve moderation workflow. The focus group call is scheduled for 3rd May 2023, from 15:30 to 16:30 UTC. During the call, we would like to discuss the following questions:

  1. What issues or frustrations do you encounter in reviewing new uploads and making/handling deletion requests?
    1. What are your entry points? How do you go about finding issues?
    2. What would you name as the main painpoint if you had to choose one?
  2. How do you feel about the potential impact of a copyvio detection tool as proposed in the community wishlist? Do you envision it being run post-upload or on upload, and is it more important to alert moderators or uploaders?
  3. Is there an area of moderation outside patrolling and DRs that requires attention?

Your input will be invaluable in shaping our efforts to enhance the moderation workflow.
