Dear Community! Today I would like to suggest you Leyo as a new sysop! He is a really active sysop on dewiki_p and he is a quite active user here, too. He is mainly active in the chemistry-space and of course there is many help needed. We do not have so much really sysops in that area, but we sure need them! Leyo is perfectly trustable and I can't imagine there could be any abuse of the tools. He accepted here and I am sure he will accept it here in a few seconds, too. abf «Cabale?! Thank you, ABF, for the trust. I promise that I would not disappoint you in case of a positive outcome here. Yes, I accept, but not as quickly as predicted. ;-) --Leyo 18:40, 5 January 2009 (UTC) PS. Please allow me to add some additional information about me: I registered on Commons 2.5 years ago, 4 years ago on de-WP. In this time, the number of my contributions to all wikiprojects has grown to > 20,000, with most edits in de-WP, but also ~1800 here and ~1300 on en-WP.[reply]

Question Does Commons allow media/content to be released under Creative Commons licenses? ?Which ones if we do allow Creative Commons licenses & why? What does Cc-by-nc-nd-3.0 mean? Thanks, --Kanonkas(talk) 19:09, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I knew you would ask some questions, Kanonkas. ;-) Is this supposed to be an exam? OK, I will have a go, even though in my potential sysop field of work (chemical structures), licences are not really a problematic issue in most cases:
  1. Yes
  2. "by-sa", "by" and "sa" licenses are permitted, "nc" and "nd" are not
  3. Creative Commons Attribution, Noncommercial, No Derivative Works, Version 3.0, i.e. not accepted on Commons

Thanks, to answer your question: nope. I'm just trying to see if you have knowledge on some other areas. At least it helps me a bit when reviewing. --Kanonkas(talk) 13:49, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't it better that candidates show their knowledge through practical application rather than a silly pop quiz (the answer to which is trivally easy to find?) One would certainly think that a person's track record in applying knowledge is more important than their ability to regurgitate text, since that is what they would be doing as an administrator?  — Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 20:28, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
