Commons:Requests and votes/Holek
(Redirected from Commons:Administrators/Requests and votes/Holek)
I am an administrator of Polish Wikipedia. My English is not very good (I'm still learning it), but I think I proved that I know copyright laws in sufficient level. What do I mainly do on Commons? Uploading SVG graphics, free photos found on the Web, translating some templates and asking Polish Commons administrators for deleting obvious copyvios and protecting heavily vandalised image pages. What would I do, if I'll become Commons admin? Same thing I asked my colleagues from Polish Wikipedia: deleting obvious copyvio and protecting pages. Hołek ҉ 13:20, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose -- Sorry. Not very active, and too few involvement with the community: only some edits in the Commons or User_talk namespace. I hope not to discourage you, but I really would like to see some more involvement in these areas. -- Bryan (talk to me) 13:28, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose - I think I'm with Bryan here and nothing personal. 500 edits is good, 500 edits that cover a whole year doesn't look like the activity level I would like, sorry --Herby talk thyme 16:07, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose sorry, just not active enough. To adequately demonstrate that you are familiar with copyright, try patrolling newimages or review flickr images.
AlsoI bolster the reasoning made by Bryan and Herby, and I'd like to see some better reasons why the supporters support this candidate. (→zelzany - framed) 16:44, 5 July 2007 (UTC) - Support Well-known form pl-wiki. User-friendly ;) and competent. Masur 10:52, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

- Oppose weakly with vote closed unappointed. In addition to Bryan, Herby, and zelzany's opposition, I would like to suggest you two ways to enforce copyright more:
- Please visit Special:Uncategorizedimages and you will see hundreds of uncategorized images. Some are unsourced, unlicensed, or without evidence of licensing. Tag with with {{subst:nsd}}, {{subst:nld}}, or {{subst:npd}} respectively. You will see warning tags showing how to notify the uploaders of these problem images. These notices will give you even more counts of user talks. Properly used tags of these need not be reported to COM:DEL because these images are to be speedily deleted seven days later without discussion.
- Discuss at COM:DEL as we have too many unsettled cases. You may also want to tag {{delete|REASON(mandatory)}} to problem images that do not warrant speedy deletions, so regular deletions will be discussed. These will give you even more counts of Commons namespace edits.
- After all, trying harder for several weeks should give you better chance here for adminship. Best wishes.--Jusjih 15:14, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

- To all supporters that have a rationale of Wikipedia in them, please remember that Commons is not Wikipedia. (→zelzany - framed) 17:14, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
- each of us knows the rationale of different projects, but we do have a right to form an opinion about the candidate based on his work with a different project, don't we? --Szczepan talk 20:09, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
You can, but it will basically be non-binding. (→zelzany - framed) 23:00, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Actually, if this user does good work on Meta, which coordinates this and the other Wikimedia wikis, then it would count a little bit. However, if it's Wikipedia, then no, since these are completely different projects. (→zelzany - framed) 23:31, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
