Abigor is one of the best contributors we have got here. He does (average) 200 contribs per day, mainly in the checking of newimages and other maintenance stuff. He is really good at this and it really seems as if he understood COM:L really good. His great experience he gained in a not (as) long time and his friendlyness and his accuracy he gives to all the stuff he does makes him beeing a great addition to the team :) abf «Cabale?! - Support I believe and trust in Abigor's judgment in dealing with difficult issues--such as certain DR issues. He has been logical, as Spock would say, and thoughtful in his replies including the one I posed to him below. I wish him success as an Admin on Commons. Cheers, --Leoboudv (talk) 01:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

A question, you seem to have joined Commons with your feet running, have you edited here with a previous account?KTo288 (talk) 00:20, 6 January 2009 (UTC)
- Comment, some users edit a lot as IPs before they actually create accounts, just a possibility, agf, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 02:05, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- CommentOf course there are many innocent explanations for the candidates familiarity with Commons, just as there are less innocent ones. I haven't made up my mind yet but the longer the candidate's silence persist, the greater my inclination to suspect the true intentions of the candidate.KTo288 (talk) 08:39, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
Let me apologize to begin with, I forgot to watch this page.
Thanks for the question, KTo288 I was already expecting it. I completely agree with you when you say , I hit the ground running when I opened my account. Before I opened my account I contribute from a IP address. I was forced to create a account because the IP where I was working from was being blocked. (for reasons not related to my edits). After I created my account I could still not edit from my own computer and asked on the irc channel for the reasons why. After a chat I was granted Ip block exception right see here, On the chat I received very much help from Viele-Baeren, and because he helped me I had a great start. Again I am sorry I didn't respond faster. Abigor talk 17:33, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for taking the time to give such a detailed reply, I now know all I wanted to know.KTo288 (talk) 00:25, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
Question: Dear Abigor, If you were an Administrator, how would you deal with certain DR problems or disputes where the author is unknown....but the image is most likely Pd-Old? I am referring specifically to this situation which has caused a minor dispute between 2 Admins on Commons. As I stated in the DR, the image is most certainly pd-old and the copyright has expired but yet some people claim that since the author is unknown, the image must be deleted. Many images on Commons have old images with unknown authors...and theoretically, anyone could place a DR on them on this basis. Sometimes the images can be deleted because its unknown if the author has been dead for 70 yrs and sometimes not. Do you have a reply here? This a real problem for Commons as you must know. Thank You, kindly, --Leoboudv (talk) 23:41, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
- I would say when the image is most likely PD-old I would see no harm in keeping the image. But the biggest problem should be in the policy. We have policy's that makes it not possible to keep those images, and that the opinion of the deleting admin doesn't count. The policy stand above the opinion.
- With most likely I mean images from more than 125 years ago. Image younger than 125 years with no source or author will be deleted because there is a change somebody have the rights.
- But I also believe those image should not be deleted without a discussion on the DR.
- But I will not try those kind of dr to start with. I am not a expert with PD-old and rather give my opinion that take a desicion in a case like the one you a refering to. Abigor talk 00:04, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
- Thank You for your reply...on how you would handle a DR such as this. It is very thoughtful. --Leoboudv (talk) 01:05, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
