Category move

[edit]

Oppose to move the category to Category:Tōhoku Expressway: there is no clear consensus that we should use macrons for Japanese long vowels. Yasu (talk) 15:06, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Thank you for your oppinion. I think you're right; in some cases we use macrons, and in other cases we do not.
Althouogh I added the tag, I have noticed that, in this case, the official route sign (img), which sould be an "official spelling" for the name, dose not have a macron.
Therefore, I would like to remove the tag for now, unless someone else has another aspect. Thanks.--Tokorokoko (talk) 06:24, 27 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Category move 2019

[edit]

Oppose to move the category to Category:Tohoku Expressway: The commons category having a different spelling than the English Wikipedia page causes disruptions. The move was made per WP:ROMAJI.Mccunicano (talk) 02:58, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Comment There is no policies or guidelines that category names on Commons should comply with w:WP:ROMAJI. In fact, Commons has its own standard for naming categories, which may from time to time result in different names between Commons and Wikipedia. Examples include: Category:BART / w:Bay Area Rapid Transit, Category:MTR Hong Kong / w:MTR and Category:Visitor attractions / w:Category:Tourist attraction. So you don't have to worry about such 'disruptions' at all.
But, as far as I see, it is preferred by WP:ROMAJI to use the most common usage in English, including the official English name (which is in this case "Tohoku Expressway", undoubtedly). And it seems you are in favour of the idea too. Yasu (talk) 15:14, 16 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
So, may I confirm that you don't oppose to this move request anymore? Yasu (talk) 15:14, 6 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
