Kneeling definition

[edit]

I'm beginning to think my view of what kneeling is might be too expansive or inclusive. I initially thought "if the knee is in contact with the ground" but lately I am wondering, after reading the wikipedia article, is it only if knees/feet are in contact with ground? Does it cease to be kneeling if hands are also in contact with ground? Does it cease to be kneeling if the torso is in contact with something (a surface, another person) which could possibly bear weight?

If this is the case, would someone know a more appropriate term to describe it? Could kneeling be part of a broader category which we could name for merit of knees being in contact with a surface and being load-bearing? Etym (talk) 21:46, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
