[edit]I did create the new category category:Armagnac (drink), because the images of the province and of the drink were in the same category.
But what is the better known ? The province or the drink ?
I agree to create category:Armagnac (province). But why make a redirect Armagnac -> province and not Armagnac -> drink ? It should be a better solution to transform category:Armagnac in an homonymy page. But I dont know how to do it on Commons...--Tangopaso (talk) 17:08, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- To me, the drink is better known, but that's maybe because I prefer it over cognac. But commons should be no lottery, so as shown in fr:Armagnac, there should be disambiguation terms on all members. Personally, I am not keen on disambiguation categories as images and subcategories are hanging sometimes there for many months in such disambiguation categories (see Category:Non-empty disambiguation categories but it is never filled up correctly) before a person gets the idea to clean them out manually. To me, the best alternative is to delete category:Armagnac and to setup Armagnac that it points to the right categories (Using {{Disambig}}). --Foroa (talk) 20:52, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree to have category:Armagnac (province) and category:Armagnac (drink) (like category:Cognac (drink)) and a Disambig page and/or category. In France, I would say Armagnac is equally known as province and as drink - see fr:Armagnac (province). To drink, an old cognac is as good as an old armagnac

- We could have category:Armagnac list "Things which are named Armagnac", with category:Armagnac (drink) and category:Armagnac (province) as subcategories and with category:Names as a parent. We could also have a gallery Armagnac to do the same thing. Template:Disambig/doc refers to "page" multiple times - that would seem to cover categories unlike "gallery". I think having a redlinked category:Armagnac would be a disservice to the project. — Jeff G. ツ 20:06, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
