Pictures taken in the "bodrum", that is Turkish for a cellar. The mosque, a former church, has a large cellar, or rather a crypt, that used to be hidden in the ground, but was excavated in 1965. It contained the graves of the founder of the church and some others (not visible) A fresco in the crypt, with representations of founder Romanos Lekapenos and his wife Theodora (who died before him and was buried in 922) is visible, though very unclear.
