“Sternbrunnen” (“star fountain”), built from Obernkirchen sandstone, at Hamburg cemetery Friedhof Ohlsdorf, map Bl 66-67.
It is one of once about 50 different fountains built between 1927 and 1933 according to the concept of German architect Paul Frank. The characteristics of the “Sternbrunnen” are an octagonal star-shaped ground plan and an obelisque like central column with expressionistic ornaments at the top, planned as a widely visible orientation point.
