English: Robert & William Wilson was a family trade mark of the Wilsons, an American silversmith dynasty. New York silversmith Robert Wilson (1766-1824) active in 1814-1824 moved to Philadelphia in 1814. His two sons, Robert and William, founded a firm, R & W Wilson of Philadelphia, active in 1824-1870, which became known for its quality and workmanship. Robert Wilson, Jr., died in 1846, but William Wilson continued to use the R & W Wilson stamp. In 1877, William dissolved the company and formed William Wilson and Son, which functioned until 1909. Notable Philadelphia's silversmith Peter Krider worked as an apprentice and a journeyman with the firm of Robert and William Wilson.
