Memorial tablet erected 1 November 1960 by the local council commemorating the meeting on 1 November 1386, recorded by Fernão Lopes, of King John I of Portugal and John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster, on the bridge over the River Mouro at Monção, Portugal. In the following year (1387) King John I of Portugal married Philippa of Lancaster, the eldest child of John of Gaunt.
