Ovibos moschatus, also called musk ox, is a unique ungulate species in the Arctic regions of North America and Greenland. They have a massive build, dense fur and powerful horns. Muskoxen are perfectly adapted to survive in extreme climates and feed on arctic plants. Although they have been decimated in the past, conservation measures have helped to maintain their populations and protect their role in the Arctic ecosystem. |
