The Mahisasuramardini Durga temple is inside the Chaiturgarh fort complex atop the northern hills of Korba district, Chhattisgarh. The temple sits on a high jagati, has a mukhamandapa and 16 pillar mahamandapa. The sanctum has a square plan, above which sits a Nagara-style shikhara. The temple has been restored, and the red painted Durga mata statue inside is a modern insertion in the 20th century. The original artwork of this temple is missing, except for some mutilated ruins which sit outside. This is is an active temple, with pilgrims trekking for many kilometers uphill on Hindu festivals such as Maha Shivaratri.
