English: Hugh Finlay (1781–1831) and his brother John Finlay (1777–1851) were among the most prominent makers of the Baltimore Fancy painted furniture. Hailing from Ireland, the Finlay brothers moved to Baltimore at the end of the 18th century and set up a furniture business on North Gay Street in the Baltimore's furniture making district.
