File:Packaged Steamed Buckwheat.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Autopatrol given[edit]

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. Guanaco (talk) 04:51, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bot[edit]

Aloha! One thing about AWB: Sometimes, without any reproducible reason, AWB screws up. I recently had files where AWB removed the entire text. Pain in the butt (_*_). One has to have an eye on the edits. Be prepared to be yelled at... ;-) --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 18:46, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Hedwig in Washington: Yo! Ugh, I didn't know that, thanks. When it does that, it will repeat it for all the next articles in it's list? -- Fructibus (talk) 19:23, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have no clue when and why. I my case AWB removed everything for a stretch of 30-50 files or so, can't remember exactly. Then it just worked like nothing ever happened. -Example- Of course I had to repair everything by hand, no rollback possible after another bot marked the file with missing infobox That was fun. Not. --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 19:45, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hedwig in Washington: Ouch! Both instructive and fun, thank you very much! -- Fructibus (talk) 19:49, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Happy to spoil your weekend anytime, just let me know when you're having too much fun! 3:D --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 19:57, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hedwig in Washington: Too much fun like re-compiling AWB to add an extra random letter in a random place to every automatic modification? :-) Whoops! Typo robot. And no, there are no such things as weekends for a fun-loving person like a wikian. Weekeds are just a mainstream media invention, a conspiracy, just like the heliocentric theory or like the claim dat Jay-Z is not an immortal vampire connected to Illerminati. Don't let them fool you! :-) -- Fructibus (talk) 20:09, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Right. Remember: Bielefeld doesn't exist! --Hedwig in Washington (mail?) 20:15, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Hedwig in Washington: Whoa! I didn't know about that - it's really a good one, thanks! -- Fructibus (talk) 20:17, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you will license your changes {{GPLv2 only}} or better on SourceForge, or send me a copy.   — Jeff G. ツ 14:25, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Censers[edit]

Are you sure about your recent edits at File:Art Gallery of Greater Victoria - Qing Dynasty food warmers in the shape of incense burners 01 (19896758134).jpg and File:Art Gallery of Greater Victoria - Qing Dynasty food warmers in the shape of incense burners 02 (20493163776).jpg? Because they aren't censers, they are just shaped like them. - Jmabel ! talk 21:41, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Jmabel: yes, it's a bit complicated. I made a lot of "shape categories" and recently I started to categorize images having "shape" in their names. Most of them only have categories like this Category:Pigs in art, and few have categories like Category:Dolphin shapes (in this case Pigs don't have it - Category:Pig shapes). Censers don't have any such supra-category - there is no Category:Censers in art since the Censers are an art in themselves. And then, those two files you mentioned should be placed into Category:Censer shapes - and I just can't move myself to create that category. I'm kind of exhausted of making so many shape categories. Until someone will do it, it's better for them to be placed into Category:Censers, so they are placed somewhere close, instead of being forgotten. Thanks for signaling this issue to me, it's important to get some feedback on this topic - maybe there are better solutions than the one I imagined. -- Fructibus (talk) 23:16, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thai eggplant and solanum torvum[edit]

Solanum torvum is often used in Thai cuisine but it is not the eggplant usually known as "Thai eggplant" which is a solanum melongena. - Takeaway (talk) 15:35, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Takeaway: thanks, AFAIK all the eggplant cultivars are solanum melongena though. Can you help me to better categorize the mess in the Category:Eggplant cultivars? -- Fructibus (talk) 16:28, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Sorry but I don't feel qualified enough for that job. It already took me quite some time to find out enough about eggplants to untangle the mess that was "Thai eggplant", "solanum virginianum" (en:Yellow-fruit nightshade) and "solanum torvum" some 3 years ago both on wp:en and here in Commons and those were relatively easy. - Takeaway (talk) 18:12, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As for the name "eggplant", besides solanum melongena, it is also commonly used for solanum torvum (pea eggplant, wild eggplant). - Takeaway (talk) 18:23, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Takeaway: That's very interesting and instructing, thank you! What do you think about making a list with all the plants that are also named eggplant? I've already found some interesting ones and I listed them at the end of this page: en:List of eggplant cultivars. -- Fructibus (talk) 14:39, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As I wrote here above, I'm not an expert on eggplant cultivars and their many cross-breeds so I don't feel qualified to do this job. Hopefully someone with more horticultural expertise can help out. - Takeaway (talk) 15:27, 9 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Fruit photography[edit]

Use plastic shot glasses to position small fruit like apples. They are cheap and work very well for positioning fruit. — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 212.191.5.131 (talk) 09:34, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
